The Central Bank of Nigeria has granted Xpress Payments, a subsidiary of Xpress Holdings Limited, a license to operate a mobile money operator.

The license, according to a statement, enables XpressMTS to launch its business as a mobile money operator in Nigeria right away and offer customers in that market the unmatched services that have helped Xpress Payments earn its well-deserved reputation.

The Chief Executive Officer of XpressMTS Limited, Mr. Abdulmuiz Ibraheem, commented on the mobile money operator license and expressed excitement for the company to receive the license after putting all necessary structures in place to provide customers in the market with unmatched services.

All our systems are raring to go. We have in place all that is required to provide an enabling environment to facilitate mobile financial services to the underserved and the unbanked populace, while redefining the payments experience for the banked through ‘peer to peer’ mobile payments solutions, merchant services and retail payments, as well as disbursement services.

XpressMTS Limited would run both a primary operational site and a functional disaster recovery site, according to the statement. This would guarantee the company’s ability to maintain effective system uptime and operational continuity.

Additionally, it stated that the financial institution was developing an ecosystem to allow people to send and receive money easily over digital channels while also facilitating universal access to simple financial services.
