A renowned merchant bank in Nigeria, NOVA Merchant Bank, has agreed to sponsor the 25th Nigeria Cup Golf Tournament at the Ikoyi Golf Club in Lagos from September 24, 2022, to October 1, 2022.
The Ikoyi Golf Community, Nigeria Association annually hosts the Nigeria Cup, one of the nation’s most renowned golf competitions (IGCNA).
The annual event first took place in 1997 as part of celebrations marking Nigeria’s independence. This year’s edition, which also marks Nigeria’s 62nd anniversary, is expected to add color as it will feature a week of excellent golf, social networking, and entertainment in an effort to make the event memorable for both participants and the Nigerian golf community.
Chief Felix Majekodunmi, the chairman of the IGCNA, stated his unwavering faith in the approaching event and the enormous influence it will have on the Ikoyi Golf community. Peter Eben-Spiff, a former champion of the Lagos Open, serves as the chair of the organizing committee. He also took some time to praise their efforts, saying that this year’s edition of the Nigeria Cup will be a success as it is already generating significant interest in the golf community.
Speaking about the upcoming event, Mr. Phillips Oduoza, Chairman of NOVA Merchant Bank, who is also an avid golfer, said NOVA is proud to be one of the sponsors of the prestigious tournament. He added that as part of its wealth management role, the bank will continue to support activities like golf tournaments that provide platforms for High Net Worth Individuals to interact and consider business partnerships.
